From 9–5 Graphic Designer to Solopreneur: My Journey to Freedom and Problem-Solving
·2 min read

When I first started as a graphic designer, I loved creating. Designing logos, crafting beautiful visuals, and playing around with Photoshop and CorelDRAW felt like second nature. But over time, the monotony of my 9–5 job started to weigh on me. I felt boxed in, knowing there was more I could do but not quite sure how to break out.
The turning point came when I realized that design was just one piece of the puzzle. I wasn’t just passionate about making things look good — I wanted to solve problems, create solutions, and build systems. That realization set me on a path to explore more than just graphic design and branding.
The Leap of Faith
Leaving a steady paycheck is terrifying. But for me, staying in the same place was scarier. I wanted freedom: the freedom to work on my terms, create what I loved, and explore new skills without limits.
I started with what I knew — design. But instead of limiting myself to visuals, I expanded into web design, diving into tools like Webflow and Figma. At first, the technical side felt overwhelming. Webflow, in particular, was a challenge that hit my confidence hard. It made me question if I was cut out for anything beyond traditional graphic design.
Rediscovering Myself with No-Code
When I felt stuck, I decided to return to what I was good at — designing in Figma. That comfort zone gave me space to experiment and regain confidence. Eventually, I stumbled upon Framer, a tool that merged the best of design and development. With Framer, I could design visually stunning websites and bring them to life with interactions and functionality — all without writing code.
That discovery changed everything. It opened the door to a world of problem-solving and solution-building that was accessible, empowering, and — most importantly — fun.
Becoming a Problem-Solving Solopreneur
Fast forward to today, I’ve transitioned from being a graphic designer to a solopreneur. I now combine web design, no-code tools, and creative problem-solving to help businesses and individuals build their ideas. Whether it’s crafting a sleek website or creating tools like Framonial, I’ve learned to turn challenges into opportunities.
Reflecting on the Journey
Transitioning from a 9–5 wasn’t just about leaving a job; it was about reclaiming my creativity and purpose. My experience as a graphic designer taught me discipline and attention to detail, qualities that continue to shape how I approach problems as a solopreneur.
The journey isn’t always easy, and the learning curve can be steep. But I’ve discovered that the freedom to explore, grow, and create is worth every challenge.
